USA. Mar 12, 2018. #15. The owners manual of my 2015 Focus 1.0 makes no mention of replacing the timing belt. The 2017 owners manual says at 150,000 miles “Replace timing and oil pump belt (1.0L engine).”. Last edited: Mar 12, 2018.
I tried to replace the sparkplug and one broke off in the head. I had it towed to a mechanic and he could not get it out with the special tool so he took it to the dealer who had to replace the cylinder head ($3,000). I now see that I should replace the timing belt/water pump preventatively which will probably be around $1,500 to $2,000 I guess.
If the input is present, check the fuel pressure, spark quality, and fuel injector signals to see why the engine wont start/run. If those are present, recheck the engine timing with a compression test and then a cylinder leakdown test to be sure that the engine timing was set correctly. O2 sensor codes should clear, unless there is a problem

I am rebuilding my 1.0 2014 focus engine. I installed timing belt and torqued crank bolt and camshaft vvt-i bolts. Everything is ok , except when i am rotating engine , vvt-i cam pulleys are keeping clicking noises (mainly intake side) and center of that pulley is moving same time.
I've heard about timing belt fibers blocking oil pump mesh way before the belt change was due. Also Haynes manual for Fiesta 2013-2017 suggest to change earlier than 10 years/150000 miles. Don't remember when though 🙂 maybe 8 years or 100 000 miles. The belt change costs about 1000-1200 € in Finland so I'd assume it's close to 800-1200

Just wondered if anybody knew when the timing belt on a 2016 2.0l Diesel S-Max should be changed. I've got many different answers from friends and I'm a tad confused! Thanks in advance MoneyPitt, That is a new one on me. I had thought that belts, by their nature, were dry. I had a 1980 Volvo that had belt. The engine seals would leak onto the belt and cause failure in one form or another. I had thought chains had an oil bath but not the belts. Not 100% sure on this. 2016 Escape Titanium w/Sync 3v3.0, 2.0 L Sep 20, 2016. #54. HOW could there possibly be a timing belt which sits in engine sump oil, and SURVIVE for 150K+ miles?!?!?!?! It would have to be a $500.00+, aramid/kevlar/carbon fiber composite material item in order to stand up to the corrosive acids, dissolved into the oil blow-by gasses, (DI amplified) raw fuel, and heat of sump oil
When would you advise changing the cam belt on my 2016 Ford Focus 1.0-litre EcoBoost? The three-cylinder 1.0 EcoBoost engine uses a 'wet belt' system that runs the cam belt in oil to prolong its life up to 10 years or 150,000 miles (whichever comes first).
